This event was a very positive experience. It primarily included setting up a waiting area, recruiting donors, and assisting the Vitalant personnel with anything they may need. Many people were happy to donate and we took measures to get word out to our fellow classmates about the blood drive. One interaction I had was with a taller gentleman who was skeptical about giving blood due to a recent procedure. However, it turns out he was eligible to give blood based on the screening protocols, and he was happy to donate! Talking with people about the cause and finding out if they had time in their schedule were useful tools for recruiting/convincing people to give blood.
