I wrote letters for the letter campaign. I was able to send these letters to elderly people who were impacted by the isolation of covid-19. It was a rewarding experience because I felt like I had brightened someone’s day with my letters.
I had a great time volunteering at Bell Garden in Bellvue, TN. The staff was very helpful in giving us tasks to work on in the garden, and I felt like I was helping out a lot. It was nice to know that my work would help the greater good of our community and that people would be able to enjoy Bell Garden even more because of the work I had done.
This was a very rewarding and fun experience. I enjoyed helping clean the seeds while also learning more about herbs and gardening. It is definitely a great opportunity.
It was a very valuable experience. We got to make burritos for those in need and shared a good time with each other. It made me feel like I was part of the community and I was making a difference.
I thought this was a very enriching, fun experience. It was very simple, but at the same time, it helped a lot of people. It was nice to work as a group to do something for our community and to give back to those in need. I would definitely want to do this again, as it was a great experience.
I volunteered at Memphis Animal Services on most Tuesdays, Thursdays, or weekends from October of 2018 to April of 2019. I would volunteer anywhere from 2-4 hours a session. While I was there I would help socialize the animals, helping them get used to people. A lot of them were scared or nervous, and I was able to help calm them down and play with them. I would take dogs outside and let them enjoy running around, and I would also spend time with cats, letting them get used to being pet. One of the main things I would do was fill out surveys about the animals so that others could know what they were like. I found the experience very rewarding and enriching, as I truly felt I was making a difference in the community and in the lives of each individual animal.
I volunteered with the Karl Dean Campaign. We helped facilitate conversations about politics and voting for governors in the 2018 election. We also planned voting days that we could implement at the University of Memphis. I participated in this with the on-campus organization, the College Democrats. I felt like we were fostering a community of voters throughout Tennessee.
