Remote Area Medical UTHSC Chapter


Remote Area Medical Foundation is a 501 C nonprofit corporation that serves to prevent pain and alleviate suffering by providing free quality healthcare to those in need. RAM’s vision is to be the best at operating clinics which enhance quality of life through the delivery of competent and compassionate health care to those who are impoverished, isolated, and underserved. The philosophy is that the organization be a part of a larger effort to bring people together to address healthcare issues in their community and see those communities transformed for a better and healthier future.

The purpose of this organization is to provide service opportunities to students of UTHSC College of Dentistry. The function of this organization shall be to educate members, campus, and local communities about the work and mission of RAM, to advocate on behalf of those with limited access to care, and to serve in partnership with RAM by volunteering.

The vision of this organization is to promote involvement of UTHSC Dental students in community dentistry organizations by volunteering for, or organizing, prevention and treatment based programs. Members should be engaged in raising funds for said programs or organization-related expenses. As a whole, this organization should function to educate fellow students on service opportunities and increase awareness of dental health disparities in the surrounding areas.
